May 2002 Outings in the Snow

May 1 Near Kendall Knob Across from Hyak at Snoqualmie Pass

A 3 Foot Tall Snowball
It had snowed a few days prior to our May 1 hike.  Under the hot sun, snow spontaneously formed snowballs rolling down the slopes.

Dave Gimmestad Rests on a Rock in Olallie Meadows.  May 8, 2002
The long I-90 bridge just west of Snoqualmie pass is visible in the distance.  Dave and I try to do a hike every Wednesday.  This year lots of our "hikes" were cross country tours.  This was our last one.  There was still a lot of snow but we were getting tired of it.  Six months on snow is probably enough.   (With a few exceptions that follow.)
